this is a late post.
On National Day, just like a big joke, the ST forum posted 2 letters from 2 Permanent Residents. Both letters are similar in content, expressing their love and feelings of their adopted country, singing praises of the people, the food and their funny stories they had while settling into this place. One of them even spoke about the 'unconditional love' for this country.
Well, for a start, I didn't know why the hell did they still cling on to their PR status after being here 21 and 9 years respectively, as claimed in their letters. Shouldn't it be time for citizenship if they really love this place so much?
Secondly, I really feel very disgusted with the cheap talks and outpour of emotional attachments for everything Singapore. In the first place, they were just enticed by the higher pay and better job prospect and may just end up in any country saying the same things. So why try to romance-tise everything now? so that they looked better , rather than being labeled as mercenaries who can call every place a home for a price?
It is just like an adopted kid from a poor family calling his rich adopted family kind, loving, compassionate...just because they are rich.
Well, at least whores are more honest, they made it clear that they sell their soul for a price and not try to get emotionally attached to you.
